I may have cheated at times. Bypass surgery is not a remedy for a sclerotic aortic valve; and the photo is actually of a dentist. But it captured the energy I think it will take to make a difference.
I await your thoughts on term limits. Meanwhile, three thoughts about our Constitution: first, it has assumed the role of a state religion, questioning it makes one a heretic; and second, the originalists have assumed the role of high priests, who divine the meaning through opaque processes; and third, the Constitution defined a way of governing that displaced monarchy, but a president with immunity is surely a monarch.
Good topic to cover. Do you feel Kamala Harris won’t tackle SC reform? Sadly the USA has a politicized Supreme Court. An independent judiciary is key for a democracy. In my time two justices lied during their confirmation hearings. In Canada we have term limits.
Strictly speaking, we have an age limit, not a limit of a certain number of years on the Court. All judges in Canada must retire at age 75. This age limit has been found to be a reasonable limit on freedom from age-based discrimination. I think term limits for judges are good and necessary, whether based on a reasonable specified age or a reasonable maximum number of years served. (All judges in Canada are appointed by the federal or the provincial government, depending on the court they sit on.) I find the similarities and differences between the U. S. and Canadian Constitutions fascinating, and I fear that ours in Canada is likely to become sclerotic as it ages, too. Like the U.S. Constitution, it is very difficult to amend, for similar reasons.
I enjoyed the extended metaphor.

Couldn't agree more.

About Harris, I don't know. She will (OK, would) have so very much on her plate. Let's hope.
